FlexNet is now on a more robust and fault-tolerant server over at AWS (Amazon Web Services). I won't have to spend like four hours plus rebuilding things like I've done in the past (already tested out too.)
Another "good" thing that happened was upgrading our old FTP server. Some Flex users use FTP to update their web pages here at Flex. Others host images for their auctions and what nots.
Plain FTP is an old and OUTDATED protocol. Why? Because of a lack of security. Using plain FTP when you put in your password, it is sent over the internet UNENCRYPTED in PLAIN TEXT! Anyone between your computer's internet connection all the way over to Flex's servers in Virginia can see, monitor and record your FTP password!
I've been lazy implementing secure FTP. Well, that has changed. Flexnet right now will support both the old FTP protocol and also the newer FTPES aka FTPS protocol. If your FTP client can handle it e.g. Filezilla, you may specify the new secure protocol as such:
ftpes://flex.com
...as the HOST. A good webpage that shows you how to configure Filezilla is here. Using FTPES (aka FTPS) safeguard your password over the Internet. Thing of what hackers could do to your website if they had your password!
Hopefully everyone who is using FTP will now switch over to FTPES. We highly recommend Filezilla as your FTPES program. It is FREE and is available for your computer (available for Macs, Windows and Linux.)

If you are having problems with your flexnet email, PLEASE use our HelpDesk User Support system and not communicate with us via email about an email problem!
If you lost your
HelpDesk password, then use our
Feedback Form and put in a email address that is a "throwaway" email account you got from yahoo or google. we will verify you are whom you say and then change your email's/Helpdesk password if need be.

drop.io for Quick Transfers of Large Files
FlexGmail limits email attachments to 500K bytes TOTAL. If you want to send over large files,
use Drop.io instead. Pretty good. Recommended.

Here are the dialup session limits for all Continental U.S. dialups:
Idle Timeout: 10 minutes
- Typing a response to an email for instance, is NOT considered activity as nothing is sent
over the modem until you press "SEND".
- To keep your modem session from getting killed due to inactivity, go to this link:
http://www.flex.com/refresh. Then, minimize the browser window.
Hard Session Limit: 5 hours
- There is an overall FIVE HOUR session timeout that no amount of activity will prevent.
Simultaneous Dialup Connections: 1
- Your dialup can be from any computer, but only one login is allowed at a time or you'll get denied.

News Server Authentications
All flexnet users who wish to access our news server (news.flex.com) MUST now login. For example if your username is "someuser",
you will need to login as "someuser@flex.com", and use your regular flexnet password. This parallels the modem user login changes
and is our way to make things uniform across all our services.
